Dogfolk in-home pet photography sessions capture your dog’s personality and the beautiful connection you share.

Shoots are generally based in-home, where you and your furry best friend make memories together each and every day, in your own special way.

We are so passionate about what we do, so we’d love to answer any questions you may have about booking a pet photo session with us.

What does the session reservation fee cover?

While photo sessions come at no cost, we do ask for a $100 reservation fee to secure your booking. This deposit will be used as credit towards any photographs or products you purchase following the shoot. The reservation fee secures your booking for a standard in-home pet photo session within 20kms of Melbourne, around 2 hours of photography on location, as well as editing and processing your photos.

Shoots beyond 20kms of Melbourne will attract the following additional travel fees: 21-40km = $50 / 41 – 60km = $75 /  61km + = $80+.

How much will I spend?

This all depends on your budget! We’ve carefully designed great-value packages that cater to all budgets and families. To give you an idea, framed wall art starts from $450, digital-only bundles from $595, and combined digital and print packages from $1350. On average, clients spend $1200+, but what you spend is of course up to you.

We love getting to know our clients, and are big believers in taking a personalised approach to your shoot. By really getting to know you, we’ll be able to create a beautiful piece of artwork or customised package that’s absolutely perfect for you and your furry fam. Nothing makes us happier!

Do you offer payment plans?

Absolutely! We offer simple, flexible payment plans that can be paid using your credit or debit card, or by direct bank transfer. Once you have paid the full amount, we’ll release your order to you.

Do you only shoot in-home pet photo sessions?

In-home lifestyle pet photography is our jam, but we’re more than happy to shoot at an alternative location at your request. Whether that’s your local cafe, workplace (such as a studio or office) or even your favourite dog park, just let us know when submitting your online booking.

I’m awkward in front of the camera and don’t like being in photos…can the session just be about my dog?

We totally understand why some people feel this way, as we’re a little awks in front of a camera ourselves! But let’s think long-term for just a moment.

One day in the future, when your fur baby is sadly no longer by your side, you’ll wish you went through just a few moments of discomfort to capture your time together – we whole-heartedly believe this! Our timeless photographs will outlive your pets and always remind you of the days you once shared. Besides, our approach is very relaxed and down-to-earth – your session will feel much like you’re just hanging out with friends.

And if you really don’t like the photos you’re in, then only you and us will ever know they existed…and we can never speak of it again!

If it’s still a “HELL NO!” even after our emotional pleas above, we’ll totally respect that and only photograph your furry bestie.

What happens at a Dogfolk photo session?

An average pet photo session will begin with us arriving at your home with coffees in hand, and plenty of cuddles to give to your pup! After we’ve established ourselves as your fur baby’s newest pals, Katy will scout out the areas in your home with the best natural light.

We’ll then slowly get into shooting, which basically just involves us following you and your dog around your home, hanging out like you would any other day. Your shoot won’t be staged at all and will flow very naturally, as if we’re not even there!

Whether it’s cuddles on the couch, belly rubs in bed or zoomies in the garden, whatever you love to do with your dog at home is what we aim to capture.

What if my home is too messy / small / cluttered?

First up, don’t stress. We’re super flexible with the spaces we shoot in. After all, our pet photography style is honest and candid – so your home should reflect this!

When we first arrive to your shoot, Katy will scout out the areas in your home with the best natural light. The main spaces we tend to shoot are the main living area and your master bedroom – so even just a light tidy and de-clutter of these two spaces is ideal, but not essential.

Katy also loves a challenge and to show off her stylist skills, so she’d be more than happy to create a little space that’s perfect for shooting – whether that’s a well-lit corner by a window, relaxing on your porch or snuggling your pup by your front door – she’ll have it sorted.

We want this to be a fun and relaxing experience for you, one that’s purely focused on the bond you share with your fur baby. You just do you – we’ll do the rest!

What should I wear to a photo session?

As your session will most likely be at home, think barefoot, comfy and casual – whatever reflects you and your personal style! We do suggest avoiding wearing black (especially if you have a black dog too!) and wearing clothes with large logos.

Remember, your Dogfolk pet photo session is all about you and your dog, so feel free to express yourself in whatever outfit you love most!

What if a dog is a bit on the naughty side? (asking for a friend…)

We’ll let you in on a little secret – we kinda have a soft spot for the cheeky pups! Dogfolk photo shoots are designed to capture your dog’s unique personality and quirks – whatever they may be. We’ll always turn up with plenty of patience and cuddles up our sleeves.

Can my family/friends and their fur baby join our photo shoot too?

As Dogfolk photo sessions are focused on your personal connection with your fur baby, unfortunately we can only shoot one family at a time. However, we’d be more than happy for your friends or family to book their own photo shoot with us!

When can we see the photos from our pet photo session?

Within a week of your pet photo session with us, we’ll share a behind the scenes post of our shoot to our social media channels.

Within 4 weeks of your session, we will email you a link to your online gallery, where you’ll be able to view your images and select your favourites to order.  

If you are purchasing printed products, these will arrive within 4-8 weeks depending on the products ordered.

Do you travel outside of Melbourne for a pet photo shoot?

Absolutely! We love a road trip, so we’re more than happy to meet you and your fur baby at a location outside of Melbourne (inter-state included!) at an additional cost. Just ask us and we’ll offer you a personalised quote.
